Impromptu football party with the iPad Pro

The big iPad Pro is a great TV.

I’m a big college football fan, especially when it comes to my University of Houston Cougars. The first game of the season was approaching and it was a big one — the Coogs were facing the #3 big guys from Oklahoma.

Not wanting to sit at home, I headed to the coffee shop. As game time approached, I pulled the 12.9-inch iPad Pro out of my bag and got ready to watch the game.

With the Directv app installed I can watch anything on the iPad that I can at home. Since the public wi-fi was spotty I used the tablet’s LTE .

Game time rolled around and I was soon watching it happily while sitting at a sidewalk cafe table. The iPad Pro screen was big and vivid, it was like having a 13-inch UHD display just inches from my face. That’s probably because that’s exactly what it was.

The audio of the tablet was loud and clear, and given the importance of the home team’s game a crowd soon gathered all around. What followed was an exciting time in our impromptu sports bar. We laughed, yelled, and jumped up and down. It helped that our UH Cougars upset the mighty Sooners.

Watching the game on the iPad Pro was outstanding. There were no flaws and it was like viewing the game on any TV.

I know everyone gives the iPad Pro 12.9 a hard time but I love mine. I use OneNote to capture notes in meetings and during my down time I use the texture app to read magazines. The screen is large enough that the magazines are life sized and beautiful!

I use my 12.9 iPad pretty much full time these days. I’m Leary of watching video on my iPad with LTE. How much data did you consume watching a 3 hour football game?

I don’t worry about it. I have a 10GB plan and have never exceeded it.

I watch a morning news show every morning on my 12.9 iPad Pro. It makes a great little tv.
